DESCRIPTION:\n \n \n \nGeorge D. Karibjanian is a Senior Counsel in the Personal Planning Department, resident in the Boca Raton office. George is Board Certified by the Florida Bar in Wills, Trusts & Estates and is a Fellow in the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel.\n \nGeorge, who has more than 24 years experience, has practiced in South Florida for his entire legal career, almost exclusively in the areas of estate planning and probate and trust administration. He also represents numerous clients with respect to nuptial agreements.\n \nGeorge lectures to local, state-wide and national groups, frequently speaking on the topics of same-sex estate planning and representing a client with potential capacity and undue influence issues. His recent notable lectures include: the ACTEC 2012 Mid-Atlantic Regional Meeting on September 8, 2012 in Verona, New York; the Florida Bar's Real Property Probate & Trust Law Section's "It's Not Too Late - Year End Estate and Asset Protection Planning Techniques Views from Washington D.C. and More" Seminar on November 30, 2012 in Tampa, Florida; the American Bar Association Real Property Trusts & Estates Section, Income and Transfer Tax Planning Group's January 24, 2013 teleconference; and the Estate Planning Council of Greater Miami's 1st Annual Estate Planning Symposium on February 13, 2013 in Coral Gables, Florida.\n \nHe has also made presentations to the American Bar Association's Section of Taxation, where he has been a co-presenter of Current Developments at each meeting for its Estate and Gift Tax Committee since 2011, the Florida Legal Education Association, the Palm Beach County Bar Association, the Notre Dame Tax & Estate Planning Institute, and the New York University School of Continuing and Professional Studies Summer Institute on Taxation.\n \nGeorge has been published in national and local periodicals and journals. His recent publications include "Protect Life Insurance Proceeds From Claims of Creditors" in the March 2013 edition of Estate Planning Journal; "Estate Planning for Same-Sex Partners" in the June 2012 edition of the Florida Bar Journal; and several pieces on same-sex estate planning and the Defense of Marriage Act in the Leimberg Information Services, Inc. Estate Planning Newsletter.\n \nGeorge is currently on the Professional Advisory Committee for the Boca Raton Museum of Art. Previously, George served as President and a member of the Board of Directors of the Notre Dame Alumni Club of Boca Raton (1996-1997), a member of the St. Jude's Church (Boca Raton) Financial Education Council (1994-1996), and Vice President and a member of the Board of Directors of the Boca Raton Girls Fastpitch Softball Association (2004-2008).\n \n \n
